SPPS Prize

The SPPS Award recognizes the outstanding contribution of a scientist based in a Nordic country to plant biology. Focus is on recent research contribution.

SPPS Popularization Prize

The SPPS Popularisation Prize aims to encourage plant biologists to bring research results to the public. The prize is given to an individual or a group of individuals who have clearly popularised plant biology in newspapers, journal articles, books, television, radio, or other public forums in the Nordic countries.

The SPPS Early Career Prize is awarded to a young, highly talented scientist based in a Nordic country, who has made significant, independent contributions to plant biology. Nominees should have received their doctoral degree less than 10 years before the SPPS Congress.

Physiologia Plantarum Prize

The Physiologia Plantarum Prize recognizes a scientist who has made outstanding contributions to plant science in the areas that are covered by Physiologia Plantarum. This could be either lifetime- or recent breakthrough-type of contributions. The Physiologia Plantarum Prize is open to researchers all over the world and also non SPPS-members can be nominated.

SPPS Plant Innovation Prize

The SPPS Plant Innovation prize is awarded to a scientist based in a Nordic country who has demonstrated how academic plant science could benefit society, through translation into innovations, to new procedures or new policies.

SPPS PhD Thesis Prize

The SPPS PhD thesis prize is awarded to a scientist that has defended the PhD thesis in a Nordic country in the two years prior to the year in which an SPPS Congress is celebrated. The next round for nominations will include students that defend between January 1st, 2024 and December 31st, 2025. The conditions for PhD studies differ between the Nordic countries and the Council will take this into consideration when evaluating the nominations.
